Researchers are welcome to visit the archives during our public service hours Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm to 9pm, and Fridays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
Some of our materials are stored off site. Before visiting the archives, please send us an email at email@example.com listing in detail the topics and sources that you wish to consult and we will let you know when they will be available.
Material held by the CLGA is open to the public; however some collections may have restrictions based on individuals’ privacy, donor specific restrictions and the condition of the material. AV material is only available for viewing when materials can withstand being played. The CLGA regrets that it is unable to make reproductions of moving image records at this time.
Please note that the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives does not permit researchers to bring or use any personally-owned scanning equipment (i.e. flatbed scanners). Researchers are permitted to use digital cameras, including smart phones. Digital images are for research and study purposes only and cannot be reproduced, published, exhibited or broadcasted without permission and additional fees may apply.
Please contact the CLGA directly to request permission to publish, exhibit or use records and to determine the appropriate acknowledgement(s). Failure to seek appropriate permissions and/or provide adequate acknowledgements is a violation of copyright law.
