Brent Hawkes 1950 -

"I count it an amazing privilege to have been involved with the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto and the Gay and Lesbian Community for the past many years. I am grateful to be a part of leading our people to faith and freedom.

Reclaiming our spiritual health and wholeness is a crucial step in the full development of our community. When we found ourselves excluded, we determined to create for ourselves a safe place. Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto has been that for myself and thousands of others. When we found the laws of the land made us second class citizens, we determined to have them changed. Canada has been a place where that has been possible.

May we continue to ensure that faith and freedom are available to our people here and around the world. Tolerance seldom is given as a gift. We have had to work for it in our families, work places, worship places and governments. The Gay and Lesbian Community is a significant force for justice and spiritual health. It has been a challenging and glorious quest." (Rev. Brent Hawkes, Toronto, 2000 Induction Statement)

Militant, pasteur de l’Église métropolitaine communautaire de Toronto.
