CLGA hires new Executive Director

The Canadian Lesbian + Gay Archives is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Executive Director, Raegan Swanson, BA (Hons), MI.

Raegan has been working as an Archival Advisor for the Council of Archives New Brunswick since 2015.  Prior to this, Raegan was an Archivist with the Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute (Oujé-Bougoumou, Québec) and as a Digital Archivist with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (Winnipeg).  As a student Raegan worked with Library and Archives Canada (Gatineau) and volunteered at Le Centre du patrimoine: Société historique de Saint-Boniface (Winnipeg).

Raegan has a BA (Honours) in History from Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface (2009) and a Masters of Information from the University of Toronto (2011). During her time at the University of Toronto she also became one of the CLGA’s first interns from 2010-2011. She is currently working on her Ph.D. at the University of Dundee (Scotland) where she is doing research into the importance of community archives in cultural identity for Aboriginal and Inuit groups in Québec.

With her experience in multiple provinces, and with the challenges of digitization, we look forward to her expertise and leadership. Raegan will officially start at the CLGA as of December 1st, 2016.

Welcoming Raegan Swanson..
