Series introduction
Logical structure of the "series" in this Inventory

In ordering this Inventory of the Records of The Body Politic and Pink Triangle Press, I have established "series" of material which are, for the most part, based on the notion of areas of endeavour -- the kinds of work done, rather than the parts of the organization that did it.

While particular administrative units gradually evolved from the collective (which at the beginning oversaw everything directly) they tended to come and go, and thus provide weak ground for the establishment of series based on their existence. The nature of the work they did, however -- soliciting advertising; producing news or feature articles; making policy decisions; etc -- tended to remain constant over time.

In some cases I have also set up series based on the type of material collected. This has been limited to material whose physical format precludes its storage as part of regular accessions.

The series established for this Inventory are listed on the Contents page. Full descriptions, and a brief background on the history of each area of endeavour, appear at the beginning of each page of series listings.
