Dennis Mock, vice-president academic, said the probe began following a column by Sun writer Heather Bird that revealed journalism teacher Gerald Hannon believes "intergenerational sex" might be healthy.
"It was brought to our attention ... and we are doing an investigation," Mock said.
The Sun reported yesterday that Hannon wrote in a 1994 essay that: "I could never understand ... how children's hockey differed from an organized child-sex ring. Both involved children and adults. Both invoved strenuous physical activity ... both involved danger. Both involved pleasure. Yet we approve of children's hockey and deplore child-sex rings."
Hannon further suggested that while children's desires must be considered, "it makes good education sense to push a child's limits..."
The investigation is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
