What we got: The details
Divorce and child custody
1982
- TBP Sep 82: Passing "palatable" legislation. Reports that Bill C-127, passed
4 Aug 82 (see Criminal Code reform), retains "homosexual act" as grounds
for divorce.
1983
- TBP Dec 83: Legal restraints and better hopes. Special report on symposium,
"Homosexuality and Justice", Laval University, early autumn. Notes lack of definition of
"homosexual act" and its sparse use as a ground in divorces cases. "In divorces where one
of the parties is gay, the law does not specify who should keep the children. The divorce
legislation of 1968 says only that the conduct of the parties is an important criterion."
