TNT!MEN
Although they make the Pride Committee some nervous, Totally Naked Toronto Men (TNT!MEN ) are crowd and media favorites at every Pride Parade. But there's more to this group than a yearly stroll down Yonge Street wearing only a fig leaf (and of course shoes, this is Toronto after all :-). Founded in February 1997 with 50 members, TNT!MEN has grown to well over 300 guys with one of the busiest social calendars in the community. They were also instrumental in getting the City to declare Hanlan's Point Beach "clothing optional," and are currently involved in court battles over their "Naked Nights" at local clubs. Chairman Richard Westgate and David Drascic join us to talk about why nudity seems to get some people's knickers in a knot, and why they choose to drop theirs. |

Tourism Toronto's Gay & Lesbian Guide
Hanlan's Point gets a mention in the back pages of Tourism Toronto's new guide for lesbian and gay visitors. The guide offers ideas on what to see and where to go, not just in the "village" but out in the rest of this big queer town. Media Relations Manager Tricia Hosking shares the inspiration for this handbook (think 750,000 spectators and $50 million in revenue for city businesses from Pride alone) and how what's in there got in there. |

Gays & Lesbians of African Descent (GLAD)
Many queer folk initially - and sometimes eternally - feel isolated and alone. Homosexuality remains a fairly taboo subject in much of the African community, making those feelings of loneliness even more acute. Born out of a Self Expression Leadership Program, Gays & Lesbians of African Descent (GLAD) provides a forum where people can be proud to be both African and queer - and comfortable in being out about it. GLAD's founder and a "Proud Mom of a lesbian daughter" join us to tell us their stories. |

"Hey, Happy!"
Noam Gonick weaves a wacked Winnipeg tale around its notorious Red River floods and largely unknown rave subculture in "Hey, Happy!" If you missed it at the recent Inside Out Lesbian & Gay Film & Video Festival it makes its commercial release in early June, and we close out this episode with some clips. |
