London Pride 1998
Remember back in episode twenty-one when visited London, Ontario and said it was a pretty conservative town where it took a court challenge to get the city to declare Pride? Well during this year's Pride celebrations - when the queer vibe was really "out" there - you could still feel the tension in the air. In some ways this makes their week of events just as remarkable as Toronto's monstrous three-quarters of a million people affair.
We start off our coverage of 1998's London Pride This link will open in a new browser window with Rev. Marcie Wexler of Holy Fellowship Metropolitan Community Church This link will open in a new browser window leading a service which included a solo by David Nelson and the presentation of the first annual "Rainbow Justice Award."
We also chat with Homophile Association of London Ontario This link will open in a new browser window patriarch Richard Hudler, MPP for London Center Marion Boyd This link will open in a new browser window and London Pride volunteer Tom Stewart about this amazing week that got a framed proclamation and the Pride flag flying at city hall.

Desh Pardesh 1998
From its beginnings in 1988 as Salaam Toronto - a one-day arts event to increase the visibility of the South Asian lesbian and gay community, Desh Pardesh This link will open in a new browser window has become a week of examining and celebrating "diasporic South Asian arts, culture and politics." The annual festival and conference is the high point of the organization's continuing efforts to make links between the cultures and communities of South Asians, First Nations people and people of color. Amie Parikh, Saniya Ansari and Vashti fill us in on this year's program, running from July 22-26 at Buddies.

William Thomas: "Yours in Dance"
We shuffle off to Buffalo to catch up with the (very busy) William Thomas, writer for the Buffalo "Q News," choreographer and Associate Professor, Theatre And Dance at the State University of New York at Buffalo This link will open in a new browser window (or "UB" if you're from there) - as he twirls through an interview, two performances and some teaching without missing a step.

Gay Day at Wonderland Preview
Dig out your red hot pants, tube tops, or whatever you've got that's red 'cause this year's Gay Day at Wonderland This link will open in a new browser window promises to be the biggest ever. Chris Phipps, Ed Pollak and organizer Richard Silver give us a preview of the park and the events planned for August 8, 1998. 10%-Qtv is a proud media sponsor for this event, and we'll be there so be sure to say hi for the camera!

London Pride Walk
We close out this episode - and this season (phew!) - with the fourth annual London Pride Walk, allowed on the street instead of relegated to the sidewalk this year, another first. Ignore the skinhead protesters with their "Straight is Great" placards, this is your day to shine girl, and you did - loud and 2,000 proud!
