Frolicking in the Enchanted Forest
This week we pitch our tent in the "Enchanted Forest." Not some figment of a fairy tale, but an actual queer campground in East Gwillimbury This link will open in a new browser window about 20 miles north of Toronto in Sharon, Ontario.

Pride & Remembrance Run Preview
In preparation for Toronto's Third Annual Pride and Remembrance Run This link will open in a new browser window (Saturday, June 27th, 1998 at 10am), we stop by the Runners Shop to get fitted-up with the right gear - or perhaps someone big and beefy who can carry us instead. 10%-Qtv is proud to be a media sponsor for this 5km run/walk, which benefits the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives and the Toronto AIDS Memorial.

Ellen: The End
More than 40 million people watched the April 30th, 1997, episode of "Ellen" This link will open in a new browser window when Ellen revealed she was gay, making it one of the most viewed moments in North American television history. Just over a year later and despite full-scale lobbying campaigns to save Ellen This link will open in a new browser window the show is canceled, its series finale going out with a whimper. Was it (a) too gay for the religious right, (b) too idealized and conservative for the queers, or (c) too preachy-teachy for the masses in between? If you answered "yes" to all three, you're probably right. Whatever the answer, there's no question that Ellen got queer issues into millions of homes on prime-time TV, and that ain't bad.
Note: Fans of Ellen may be interested to know that ABC has announced that the last season of her namesake show will rerun through the summer in its familiar 9:30 Wednesday timeslot - including the two "lost" episodes of Ellen that contain a discussion of a wedding, and a real kiss between character Ellen Morgan and her on-screen heartthrob.

Pride "Free Zone"
Everyone knows the booze companies love us, especially on Pride Weekend. But what if you're looking for something different to quench your thirst? This year the Addiction Research Foundation This link will open in a new browser window and its partners bring you the "Free Zone" - an all-ages oasis where the high comes from music and dancing.

Canadian Gay & Lesbian Archives 25th Anniversary
You won't find much of "the love that dare not speak its name" in most history books, which is sad because our community's past is not only fascinating but also something to learn from. We check out the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives - one of the largest collections of queer material in the world - as they celebrate their 25th year of keeping our stories alive.

TEACHing Not to Hate
We take a look at TEACH This link will open in a new browser window - a unique program that not only helps youth in east Toronto understand their own coming-out, but enables them to take leadership in educating their schools, their teachers and others about homophobia as well.

Toronto Pride '98 Update
With Toronto Pride Week 1998 This link will open in a new browser window upon us, we catch up on all the latest with Pride Co-Chair David Clark and "the other David" from the Pride Ball Committee. We also plug the hell out of our own Mega Pride Mega Coverage for this year, including our live coverage of the Pride Day Parade via webcast on Sunday, June 28. You don't want to miss this (unless you're actually there, in which case you'll want to catch the highlights in our one-hour Pride Parade special)!
